Before Use
Before beginning the treatment, determine existing tooth shade with the included Bleaching Shade Guide. Some teeth may be more heavily stained than others, so be sure to mark down “before” shade(s) to keep track of improvement.
Treatment Procedure
1.Floss and brush teeth gently making sure not to irritate the gums. Rinse mouth with warm water.
2.Determine original tooth shade using the Bleaching Shade Guide.
3.Apply generous amount of lip balm to soften lips. Squeeze the arms of the cheek retractor together and insert it into the mouth with the two vertical slots facing outwards. Take care to ensure that the lips are placed comfortably around the outside edge of the cheek retractor and that the lips are not touching the teeth. Bite down on the arms of the retractor. Apply more lip balm to the insides of the lips. If lips are touching the surface of the teeth, place a piece of a cotton ball under the lip to raise it off of the surface.
4.Use tissues, cotton balls, or gauze to dry the surface of the teeth to be whitened. DO NOT apply the whitening gel to wet teeth.
5.Brush the whitening gel onto the surface of the teeth to be whitened. Only a 2-3 mm layer of whitening gel is needed. Take care to ensure that no gel comes into contact with the lips, face, gums, or hands. Remove excess gel with a dry cotton swab.
6.Open one of the whitening activator film packs. There are two film sheets per pack, one for the upper teeth and one for the lower teeth. Remove the whitening activator film from the plastic backing and press the sticky side down onto the whitening gel-covered teeth.
7.Slide the e-Bright® LED cold-light unit into the fixed slots of the cheek retractor with the LED lights facing in towards the teeth.
8.Turn on the start switch on the battery pack to begin the first twenty-minute treatment. Turn off the unit when you hear the beep signaling the end of the treatment time.
9.At the end of the twenty-minute, remove the e-Bright® LED cold-light unit from the cheek retractor. Remove the whitening activator film from the teeth and throw away. Take out the cheek retractor and rinse mouth well with warm water.
10.Repeat the treatment an additional two to four times until desired whitening results are achieved. At the end of the total treatment schedule, measure new tooth shade using the Bleaching Shade Guide.
For Best Results
The recommended initial treatment schedule is to use the e-Bright® on three consecutive days for twenty minutes a day. If additional whitening results are desired, the treatment can be extended to five, twenty-minute treatments over five days.
Minimize consumption of colored food and drinks while using the e-Bright®. Try to limit use of tobacco products. Maintain good oral hygiene during the treatment.
Special Notes
It is common to produce excess saliva during the first treatment as you are not used to wearing the cheek retractor. It is safe to swallow your saliva during the treatment and it may be helpful to lean your head back slightly to allow yourself to swallow the excess saliva as necessary.
If the whitening gel comes into contact with the gums during the treatment, the pink tissue may turn white during the treatment. This will fade in a few hours following the treatment and is not cause for concern.
If you have severe stains caused by tetracycline, fluoride, or another chemical, discuss your best options for whitening these stains with your dentist. The e-Bright® is effective on whitening these types of stains; however additional treatment cycles and adaptations may be necessary to achieve best results.
It is recommended that you contact your dental professional before beginning any new treatment.
Keep out of reach of children. Not suitable for pregnant or lactating women or children under sixteen years of age.
