The BEYOND Solo Whitening Treatment Kit is a single patient economy kit for a standard thirty-minute chair-side procedure. Containing the BEYOND® II 35% H2O2 whitening gel and proprietary catalyst ingredients, and BEYOND® II BlueSeal® Gingival Protection gel, the BEYOND Solo kit is an economical choice for standard whitening cases. The unique BEYOND II 35% H2O2 whitening gel formula is packaged in a dual-barrel syringe with static mixing tip for quick, easy application without the need to mix or prepare ingredients prior to treatment.
Whitening Treatment
Step 1: Perform a pre-treatment oral exam and consult with the patient on his or her desired whitening results to determine the best treatment plan for his or her individual situation.
Step 2: Apply lip protection cream and insert the BEYOND FlexiBlue® Cheek Retractor. Determine the existing tooth shade.
Step 3: Place the protective eye goggles on the patient.
Step 4: Insert cotton rolls on either side of the frenum of the upper and lower lips. Apply extra lip protection cream if necessary.
Step 5: Dry the teeth and gums. Apply the BEYOND BlueSeal® Gingival Protection. Light cure in a circular motion.
Step 6: Attach the mixing tip to the dual-barrel syringe of whitening gel and apply a 2-3 mm layer of BEYOND® Whitening Gel to the dry surface of the teeth.
Step 7: Position the BEYOND® Whitening Accelerator lamp head at a 90° angle to the patient’s teeth and press the Start button to begin the first ten-minute cycle.
Step 8: At the end of the ten-minute cycle, use dry suction to remove the whitening gel. DO NOT rinse with water. Repeat Steps 5-7, two more times for a total of three, ten-minute treatment cycles.
Post-Treatment
Step 9: At the end of the last ten-minute cycle, remove the gel, gingival protection, cheek retractor, gauze, and protective eye goggles and ask the patient to rinse his or her mouth with warm water.
Step 10: Show the patient his or her new white tooth shade.
Important Points to Note
Pregnant women or persons under the age of sixteen are not recommended to undergo the procedure.
Terminate the whitening procedure if any patient reports severe tooth sensitivity and remove all whitening gel before treating with fluoride.

How is the Beyond Solo kit different from other kits?
The BEYOND Solo kit is an economical single-patient whitening treatment kit containing a generous 2.6ml syringe of the BEYOND II 35% hydrogen peroxide whitening gel, formulated to whiten in a single 30-minute chair-side treatment. Typical treatment is three 10-minute cycles. The Solo kit also contains one syringe of BlueSeal gingival barrier, face protection cloth, mixing and dispensing tips, and multilingual instruction manual.
-
Does the treatment cause sensitivity?
Post-treatment sensitivity is caused by a number of factors, including treatment time (time gel and/or paste is on the teeth and time of light acceleration applied), strength of the whitening material, heat generated by the whitening system, and existing tooth condition of the patient. The most common cause of chair-side whitening sensitivity is enamel dehydration during the whitening process, which may increase with the use of some whitening systems. With the BEYOND Solo kit, the total treatment time is three 10-minute cycles combining the BEYOND gel with light acceleration. Treatment time can be extended to ensure strong results when using a third-party LED light source, but total treatment time should be no more than 45 minutes of exposure to the whitening materials to limit dehydration.
All BEYOND power whitening systems contain stronger halogen light sources, and include light filtering lenses to remove all UV exposure and to produce cool light output, reducing heat exposure to the teeth, and further limiting dehydration. As a result, dentists using the BEYOND Solo Kit with a BEYOND power whitening system generally do not experience the sensitivity issues that plague other systems.
-
How does Power whitening work to reduce treatment time?
Power whitening is effective in decreasing the stability of the hydrogen peroxide contained in the whitening gel, forcing the release of oxygen molecules. All BEYOND power whitening gels are formulated in two parts: hydrogen peroxide gel, and light-activated catalyst gel. The two are mixed when dispensed through the static mixing tips included with the dual-barrel syringes. When the intense light from the whitening accelerator is applied to the gel on the surface of the teeth, the light-activated catalyst material in the gel formula is excited and the breakdown of the hydrogen peroxide is accelerated.
-
Can the gel be used without a whitening lamp?
Yes. The BEYOND whitening gel is formulated to break down more rapidly when exposed to light, and to remain stable while contained in the dual-barrel syringes. When mixed while being dispensed and applied to the teeth, the gel begins to break down and will whiten the teeth without the application of light exposure, but will do so more slowly. Whitening with gel alone should be extended to three 15-minute cycles, and may require more than one treatment for best results. For consistent, strong results in a single in-office visit, we recommend use of the gel combined with light acceleration.
-
Is the gingival barrier necessary when performing the treatment?
Yes, the gingival barrier must be used with the BEYOND whitening gel to protect tissues from contact with the whitening gel. The BEYOND BlueSeal Gingival Protection Gel is a light-cured resin-based product that is applied to dry gingiva prior to application of the whitening gel to the teeth. The BlueSeal material can be light-cured by any standard curing light. All professional chair-side whitening kits contain the BEYOND BlueSeal gingival Protection Gel.
-
Can dental hygienists perform a teeth bleaching/whitening procedure?
Yes. In the US and most European countries the removal of stains from the surface of human teeth, including bleaching treatments, falls within the scope of practice of a registered dental hygienist. Regulations vary by state and country.
-
Is this kit compatible with other light systems?
Yes. The BEYOND whitening gel contains catalyst materials to work with any light system, or without light acceleration, though results may vary depending on the intensity for the light output. LED systems may require longer cycles, or additional cycles for best results. Each 2.6mL BEYOND Solo gel syringe contains enough material for 3 cycles. Consult instructions prior to use.
